Accessman Blenheim have been busy training local customers in the safe operation of Elevated Work Platforms (EWP’s). Accessman offers two forms of Operator Training – the  nationally recognised Silvercard NZQA or the internationally recognised & ISO accredited IPAF licence.  Both courses satisfy Best Practice and meet Work Safe NZ standards.
The objective of the training is to give operators an expert understanding of the different types of machines, their safety features and applications to minimise the potential for accidents through the incorrect use of this equipment in the workplace.

Each training course is conducted by an accredited Trainer, see Andy Conway and the guys from T&D construction in action (pictured).

For all your Silvercard and IPAF training requirements contact Accessman on 0800 2 GET HIGH or email training@accessman.co.nz.

Accessman/Rolly Inn
Annual Charitable Golf Tournament

On the 21st May The Rolly Inn Golf Section hosted the 3rd annual Accessman/Rolly Inn Charitable Tournament.
We’re very pleased to be able to pass on that this year’s tournament was the most successful to date. A record 37 teams enjoyed a great day at Weedons.
 This year an impressive $10,000 was raised to be distributed evenly between two charities of choice;

Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ,
Ronald McDonald House South Island
A shout out to the Canterbury Stair Climb Team for cooking  the prize-giving dinner for over 150 players and volunteers.

Well done to Dan and his team for putting together such a hugely successful day.
Bring on 2018!

After a bit of a wait, we announce the arrival of our new truck.  A renovated International with a Chiefain trailer imported from Ireland.  The addition of the International to our fleet means that we will not only be able to do our own deliveries of our bigger machines in and around town, but we will also be able to move these larger machines around our smaller branches and franchises with a lot more ease.

We have another new and exciting addition to our fleet on the way.

Keep your eyes peeled for details!

Choosing the right machine for the job you are undertaking has never been more important post the introduction of the new health and safety legislation now in place.
When we refer to the Best Practice Guide for Elevated Work Platforms, a key requirement in operating a machine is to ensure that the unit being utilized is
'fit for purpose'
By definition, this would include one or more of the following features:
  • Obtains the height you need to work at.
  • Carries the weight of the tools, personnel and equipment you wish to load.
  • Is suitable for use outside with a listed wind rating.
  • Uses a suitable form of drive/tires for the surface you are operating on.
  • Has a fuel source that matches the environment you are working in.
  • Reaches the target you are working towards without having to reach outside or stand on any cage or rails, or use a box/ladder.
  • Carries a current and valid six-month inspection certificate.
  • Has a log book in which each operator has logged into, as proof of pre-start inspection.

The consequences of not following a proven series of discovery questions you should be asking yourself, when choosing the right machine will not only impact on the ability of the EWP you have to meet your work requirements, but could also form the basis of a fine or warning levied by the work place inspectorate.
