International Powered Access Federation

In 2015 Accessman was one of the two companies to become an accredited IPAF training centre and bring the internationally recognised training into New Zealand.
Leading industry professionals developed the IPAF training, which is delivered by a worldwide network of over 600 training centres to more than 100,000 operators each year.

Some "need to know" about IPAF's PAL (Powered Access License) card:

  • PAL card is ISO18878 and ISO9001 accredited. This is an international standard that covers Mobile elevated work platform operator training
  • International recognition of training, both in terms of staff holding a card that arrive into NZ, and for staff that are trained here, and want to take the card with them internationally.
  • Cards can be instantly verified via an online database, that not only includes a photo of the holder, but details down where, when the card expires, and what types of machines can be operated.
  • Ability to choose categories that match requirements of individual and company.
  • Internationally accredited training instructors
  • Includes candidate log book for recording of machine use.
  • A card and certificate are issued
  • An operator handbook is included
  • Alignment to all machine manufacturers, who are also members of IPAF
  • Accessman is the only South Island based, Internationally recognised and accredited training provider.
  • WorkSafe NZ has acknowledged the new IPAF training programme with WorkSafe inspectors briefed about the programme
  • Class sizes are kept small to maximise individual learning and comprise both practical and theory based learning with assessments.

E-learning is a 2016 initiative from IPAF, with modules emailed to operators to carry out the theory side of their training from home. They can then proceed to the training centre for their theory examination, practical training and practical examination.   This is a great platform to be able to learn at your own pace, in your own home or office.

Greetings from Alan and Paul from our Meadows Road Timaru branch!
Long hot days (most of the time anyway) has meant our fleet of EWP’s have been out and about across the region. Our boom and 4WD scissor deck fleets have been particularly busy.
As reported in an earlier newsletter, we’re particularly pleased and proud to now have a

Haulotte HTA16P Trailer mounted boom (Cherrypicker) in Timaru.
This state of the art towable boom has more features than we can list, but include an auto level feature, electric drive assist, which allows you to drive the machine around after disconnecting from your vehicle.
Include either battery or petrol operations, and power, water and air availability to the basket, and you’ll find a machine that will make a huge positive impact on your requirements.
Call in today to look it over and get in quick to book it in for your next job, its proving to be very popular!
See you in the air!!!
Alan and Paul

Machine of the Month

From Laura, Fleet Coordinator,
in Christchurch

Ever wanted to get up and over but a knuckle boom is just too big? The MJ095J Raptor is a very compact machine, perfect for all of those tight spaced jobs– with the wheel base being only 1m wide and having zero tail swing.

This machine has the capability to get to a height of 9.2m and extending 3m. It is electric powered so it’s perfect for indoor use and can hold up to 200kg.

It’s a wee baby knuckle

From Jim, little bit of everything,
in Dunedin

The  HR12  12m Knuckleboom is dual fuel. You can fire it up on diesel, drive it off the truck, up to a building. and then just before you drive inside, turn off the diesel engine and use the battery power.

At only 1.5 meters wide, it is good at getting into small narrow spots.

It is a machine that once a customer uses it and they realise what it can do, they tend to really like it, and even refer to it as "The Little Hulk" when booking it for their next job.

The HR12 is available in 2WD and 4WD (check your local branch)
